Helping founders in my spare time.
I'm Vladimir Knyazhitskiy, a technology entrepreneur based in Finland. By day I run Alpha Bat Pro Oy, a battery-management engineering company in Vantaa. Outside working hours I co-host the Startup Bar community in Helsinki, mentor founders and give talks. Univerum is the name I use for that community work — it is not a company, a fund or an investment club.
An engineer first, a community volunteer second.
I have spent 25 years building IT, education and electronics businesses, including as head of R&D with two US patents to my name. Since 2023 I have been CEO and co-founder of Alpha Bat Pro Oy, which designs battery management systems and custom battery solutions. That is my full-time job and my only business.
Alongside it, and only outside working hours, I take part in the Finnish start-up community: co-hosting Startup Bar, mentoring founders one-to-one and speaking at events. I do this for free, as I have for fifteen years in several countries. I do not invest money, take shares or charge fees.

Startup Bar
I co-host Startup Bar, a regular meet-up in Helsinki for founders and people around start-ups: short talks, pitches and honest conversation. Come along — or get in touch if you'd like to present.
One-to-one mentoring
An hour of straight talk about your product, team, pricing or go-to-market. I have reviewed thousands of start-ups as a mentor and juror, and I'll tell you what I actually think.
Talks & workshops
I speak at start-up events, universities and accelerators about building hardware and software companies, managing R&D and getting a first product to market.
Introductions
If I know someone who can help — an engineer, a potential customer, a programme — I'll make the introduction. Nothing more formal than that.

Most mentors come from one side. I've built products on both — electronics with embedded software, and the companies that sell them — so the advice tends to be practical.

- Honest feedback. I'd rather tell you what's wrong now than be polite and useless.
